A man who was found guilty of raping and killing a three-year-old girl has been executed with a machine gun at point blank range.
Muhammad al-Maghrabi, 41, was killed lying on the floor after being convicted.
His execution, at point blank range, was broadcast on live TV across the world in front of a crowd of thousands of people.
His hands were tied behind his back as he was led from a prison van before being laid down on a rug in front of crowds of people all filming on their mobile phones.
A police officer then comes up from behind and shoots him in the back as he lays on the floor.
Images of the scene also show huge crowds gathered to watch the execution in the city’s main square and many people following the police truck carrying al-Maghrabi’s dead body after his execution.
In Yemen, Sharia law is the source of all legislation.
